About Regional Directorate

The Coimbatore Regional Directorate started its functioning on 16th September 1964 with Coimbatore as a head of Coimbatore Regional Directorate covering Eight districts of “Kongu Region” covered under its jurisdiction viz.Coimbatore, The Nilgiris, Erode, Tirupur, Namakkal, Salem, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri.

Geographical Jurisdiction

The Coimbatore Regional Directorate covers the “Kongu Nadu” is a region comprising the Western part of the Tamil Nadu.  The region is currently bounded on the West and North- West by the States of Karnataka and Kerala.  Coimbatore is situated in the extreme West of Tamil Nadu near the State of Kerala. Coimbatore is called as “Manchester of South India”.
